Seasons of Motivation: How to Stay Energized and Active as the Weather Shifts

As the air starts to get crisper and the daylight hours reduce do you find your motivation starts to wane? This is totally natural!  However, with some creativity, goal setting and self-care, you can keep your fitness goals on track and your spirits high no matter what the weather brings.

Here are some strategies to keep you focused and inspired in to Autumn and throughout the year:

1. Set Goals: This could be entering an outdoor event with a friend, setting a new personal best on your squat or lift, signing up for a new gym class, or getting out once a week for a walk with friends. Setting seasonal goals will help to keep you motivated and focused.

2. Remember Your Why: Remind yourself of the reasons behind your fitness journey. Is it improving your health, boosting your confidence, or taking care of your mental health? Pop a reminder of this somewhere so you see it each day!

3. Celebrate Progress: Celebrate your victories, big and small, to keep yourself motivated and moving forward. Whether it's reaching that personal best or sticking to your workout routine for a week straight, every achievement deserves recognition (and celebration)!

4. Mix Up Your Routine: Autumn is the perfect time to shake up your workout routine and try something new. Jump in on a new class at your gym, engage a personal trainer, or how about trying out that yoga or pilates class you've been thinking about. Mixing up your routine not only prevents boredom but also challenges your body in new ways.

5. Find Joy in Movement: Instead of viewing exercise as a chore to get through, reframe your mind to remember that it is self-care that nourishes your mind and body. Find activities that bring you happiness and fulfilment. Dancing to your favourite songs, get out walking in the crisp autumn air, or try restorative yoga with a group of friends. By finding joy in movement, you'll naturally feel more motivated to stay active.

6. Practice Self-Care: As the seasons change, it's essential to prioritize self-care practices that support your overall well-being. Take time to rest and recharge yourself with things that soothe your soul like booking a massage, reading, or a warm bath with magnesium salts. Fuel your body with wholesome and nourishing foods to keep your energy levels up all winter long. Think hearty soups and roast veggie salads! By taking care of yourself, you'll be better equipped to stay motivated and active throughout autumn and into winter.

7. Connect with Others: This is a great time to connect with friends, family, and workout buddies for outdoor activities and fun fitness adventures. Grab the girls and plan a weekend away to hike and explore our beautiful country, bike rides, walk your dogs through a new bush track, or join a fitness challenge together. The support and encouragement of friends & family can be a powerful motivator. Plus it's just more fun!

Staying motivated and active as the seasons change is all about setting goals (and rewards!), mixing things up, looking after yourself, and connecting with others. Embracing the beauty of the season 🧡

So grab your Squaties, add an extra layer and make this a season of fun, fitness, and fabulousness!
